Putting images in your homepage

Purpose and application

The Internet is a place where any individual can easily share information with the rest of the world. You might already have your own website, either at home or at the office. A website can be more appealing when it contains images in addition to the text.

Necessities

You need a flatbed or film scanner to import photographs. If you have a digital camera, it's easier to import your favorite shots. If you intend to retouch the images, you will need image editing software. Web authoring programs can also make building your Web page easier.

Making it work

Since the images will be displayed on a computer monitor, low resolution (72 dpi to 100 dpi) is acceptable. Use higher resolution for scanning and editing the images, then switch to a lower resolution. For photographs, the JPEG format is recommended for both quality and size considerations.
