Understanding Digital Cameras/MaintenanceIndexHome

Servicing your camera

Don't disassemble the camera. When the camera needs repair, take it to the dealer or call the maker's information service for advice.

It is not advisable for you to repair your digital camera yourself. If something isn't working properly, consult the retailer or the manufacturer's customer service center. Describe the problem in as much detail as possible; how you use and store the camera, what was happening when it malfunctioned, etc., and follow the advice of the specialist. This is the fastest way to get it repaired. Even if you open the camera, you are unlikely to be able to identify the failed components, and anytime you touch delicate elements you are likely to damage them further. By attempting your own repairs, you may nullify the warranty and turn a simple repair into a major problem.
