Panorama effect

In general, the panorama effect is obtained by masking the top and bottom of the image. Because of this, the total image area is actually less than for normal images. This results in the following advantage; by halving the image area, the memory requirement is also halved.

The visual effect of the wide panorama images can be quite interesting. Since the data requirement is halved, they could be used effectively as background images for a Web homepage for example. There are many possibilities.
