Making good use of the macro mode of the camera

Close-up shot taken without using the macromode

When using a digital camera equipped with a macro mode for close-up shots, pay close attention to the distance between the subject and the camera, being careful not to exceed the effective range of focus.

When taking close-up shots, the closer you approach the subject, the larger the discrepancy between the view-finder image and that of the photo. To ensure accurate framing, use the liquid-crystal display to frame close shots.

When taking shots at the closest possible distance, or if the subject is very dark, you may find it difficult to focus while looking through the liquid-crystal display. You can hang a string from the camera at the minimum focusing distance to use as a point of reference.
