Adjusting exposure time

When the exposure is adjusted to capture the background, flowers in front become dark

Some AE (automatic exposure) cameras have no exposure adjustment feature. However, if you acquaint yourself with the exposure control mechanism of your particular model, you can make certain compensations. If the AE program is center-weighted, you can lock in the exposure at one location by activating the focus-lock feature. This should prove effective to some extent. If the camera has exposure compensation capabilities, increase the exposure in case the scene is dark, and decrease it when the image is bright to gray to get the appropriate exposure. With careful practice, you will find this a rewarding way of taking pictures.
