Underexposure when using the built-in flash

Underexposure resulting from the built-in flash

If the subject is outside the effective range of the flash, it will be underexposed. By bringing the subject within the effective range, you can solve the problem. If this is impossible, find a way to use the available light. Digital cameras offer balanced color reproduction under all sorts of lighting conditions, so often your results will be more natural if you avoid using the flash.

Underexposure is avoided by not using the flash
