Overexposure when using the built-in flash |
A slightly overexposed image using the built-in flash |
When you use the built-in flash to take photos indoors or in dark places, pay close attention to the effective range of the flash. You will find that, even within the effective range, white objects which are highly reflective will cause the subject to be overexposed. Since digital cameras can be used in relatively dark places, you may not need to use the flash, so try to reshoot the subject without it. In many cases, you will find this to be more natural, free of harsh shadows, and without a stark contrast against the background. However, a slower shutter speed will be used in this case, so you must be careful not to shake the camera. |
