Using the self-timer

The photo framing was skewed

The secret to taking successful pictures with the self-timer is to make sure that the camera is rigidly fixed and will not move once the shutter button is pressed. Even a small tripod is better than none. A tripod keeps the camera firmly in position and also allows greater freedom in positioning the camera. A tripod is a treasure in wet locations and will also improve your framing.

Using a tripod serves to stabilize the framing
