Moving subjects that come out blurred

Blurred photo of a subject in fast motion

Images of quickly moving subjects such as animals, children at play, or participants in sporting events frequently are blurred, while the background and stationary subjects are clear in the photo. The cause of this might be confused with shaking the camera.

The digital camera, which employs an AE (automatic exposure) control, does not let you switch manually to a faster shutter speed in order to freeze a subject in motion. On the other hand, it automatically uses a fast shutter speed when shooting in brightly lit locations. If the camera is used in brightly lit conditions, the subject will not appear blurred. Use a flash when shooting indoors, in the shade or where lighting is poor, or when the shutter speed might be too slow.
