Orr sailed to England to join the Royal Air Force and was assigned to 204 Squadron on 1 August 1918. On the morning of 23 October 1918, his flight had just completed a bombing mission when it was engaged by enemy fighters near Termonde. In the battle that followed, Orr, Thomas Nash and three other Sopwith Camels pilots killed in action.
