Notes
A married student from Glasgow, Findlay joined the Mounted Field Ambulance in March 1915. Accepting a commission with the Highland Light Infantry, he served in the Sinai campaign before transferring to the Royal Flying Corps in December 1916. He completed pilot training in May 1917 and served as an instructor until he was assigned to 88 Squadron in early 1918. As a Bristol Fighter pilot, Findlay made several attacks against enemy aerodromes, participated in early wireless telegraphy experiments and scored 14 victories, including 13 Fokker D.VII's. He remained in the Royal Air Force after the war and retired in 1941 as a Group Captain.
