Assigned to 32 Squadron, he became an ace while flying the D.H.5.  In 1918, he scored 12 more victories while flying the S.E.5a. Returning from an offensive patrol 9 June 1918, he was killed when his aircraft was brought down by enemy machine gun fire from the trenches.
