Frequently asked questions...

Instead of downloading some ".lha" files, IBrowse displays them - why?
This is a misconfiguration problem on the remote web server. The server is serving the document with an incorrect MIME type; to work around this problem, Shift-Click the link to download the file to disk.

Note that if you access the web through a proxy the file may be corrupted in transit when downloading in this manner, if so temporarily disable the proxy and access the file directly.

How do I set up IBrowse to use a proxy?
IBrowse allows proxies to be configured for all four major services, HTTP, FTP, Gopher and Telnet. To set up a proxy for HTTP, FTP or Gopher ask your service provider for the required service, host name and port number, then for each service you wish to proxy enter the information into the Network Preferences requester like you can see on the screenshots

When using proxy I am constantly prompted for my user ID - what can I do to stop this?
IBrowse supports proxy authentication for password protected proxies. For older proxies that do not support proxy authentication it is necessary to set your username and password through environment variables.

To do this follow the instructions below:

Open up a CLI(shell) and type -
SetEnv http_proxy_username <your_username>
SetEnv http_proxy_password <your_password>

When I load IBrowse it does not use the full screen. If I expand the window and save the IBrowse settings it is still the same
The window settings are a MUI option. To change the settings run MUI and select Windows. Now select 'save on exit' for the positions option. Now when you exit IBrowse your window options will be saved.

IBrowse 1.1 now supports cookies, but what are cookies and what are they used for ?
Here you can find a good explaination for cookies.
