Linux Gazette, a member of the Linux Documentation Project, is an on-line WWW publication that is dedicated to two simple ideas:

• Making Linux just a little more fun
• Sharing ideas and discoveries

The basic idea behind these two concepts is that Linux is one cool OS, whose price for admission is a willingness to read, learn, tinker (aka, hack!), and then share your experiences. The Gazette is a compilation of basic tips, tricks, suggestions, ideas and short articles about Linux designed to make using Linux fun and easy. LG began as a personal project of John M. Fisk, and grew to include contributions freely provided by a growing number of authors. Linux Journal is now publishing the Gazette using material contributed by outside authors (note to potential authors). Without these authors there would not be a Gazette, and I thank them all. Drop a note to the author of anything that you find helpful or instructive -- the author's e-mail address is included for this very purpose.

Linux Gazette Announcement Service: While we do not mail issues of LG to our readers--it's just too big--we do have an announcement service. Write lg-announce-request@ssc.com with the word subscribe in the body, and each month you will receive an e-mail notice when we post Linux Gazette.

Linux Gazette Downloading Information: A gzipped tar file containing the current issue of Linux Gazette can be downloaded by clicking here; new base files, here.

Our ftp site now contains each issue after Issue 9 in its own gzipped tar file. Issues 1 through 8 are contained in one gzipped tar file. There is also a file, lg-base.tar.gz, which contains all the files common to more than one issue.

Note that some of our mirrors only mirror the most recent issue. If you are reading Linux Gazette from one of these mirrors only the top link will work. If you wish to access one of the previous issues, please do so from our main site.
