HOW BIG?

We recently took a survey of the studyabroad.com databases. Our staff is constantly seeking out and adding new listings, so these numbers are already a little bit dated, but this should give you some idea of the extent of the information we make available.

Institutions Listed: More than 1200
Countries Listed: 116
"Academic" Programs: 1753
Summer Programs: 852
Language Programs: 339
Experiential Programs: 84

In addition to all of these listings, we also offer a wealth of information in the Study Abroad Forum (see "Forum," below) as well as information about products and services of use to students looking to study abroad (i.e. health insurance, student i.d. cards, discounted flights, etc.).

NEW LINK PROVIDES BIG TRAFFIC BOOST

A new directory, easily accessible to most people surfing the web resulted in 1000 new referrals to studyabroad.com in a one week period.

If you are using the "Netscape Navigator" as your web browser (as more than 80% of our users do), you have a button at the top of your Netscape Window which says Net Search. If you hit this button it takes you to a page on Netscape's web site which allows you to perform web searches using the InfoSeek search tool.

Infoseek has recently added a directory of selected web sites, which appears just below the little box you use to enter your search request. The directory consists of 9 topics, including "education." When a user selects education, they receive a page of links to a dozen education related sites, including studyabroad.com. This link provided 1019 referrals to studyabroad.com in its first full week of existence.

In March, Infoseek was our biggest source of referrals. Here's a breakdown of all the referrals we received from the major search tools on the world-wide web.

Infoseek: 3476
Webcrawler: 2396
Altavista: 1359
Yahoo: 920
Excite: 831
Lycos: 184
Opentext: 79
