Education and Outreach Program

The MAP education and outreach program consists of 3 elements: 1) MAP participates in the Cooperative Satellite Learning Project, which joins high schools students and teachers with scientists and engineers in a focused program; 2) MAP assists the Hayden Planetarium in New York with the development of a show about cosmology; and 3) MAP maintains an interactive site to answer your questions about the Universe.

Cooperative Satellite Learning Project
CSLP is a program led by Michael Rice of Allied Signal Corporation that joins high school students, parents, industry, NASA and the community into a focused program. There are currently six high schools participating in the program.

The CSLP program just received the 1998 Government Technology Leadership Award. CSLP was recognized for using technology to encourage America's youth to learn about science and engineering careers. The award plaque will be on display at the Goddard Space Flight Center. Smaller versions will be presented to each school and will be on display at the Goddard Corporate Park.

MAP/Hayden Planetarium program
The MAP science team is working together with members of the Hayden Planetarium in New York to develop a cosmology show for planetaria.
