The Links tab sheet in the Document InfoDocument_info.tex dialog box is a tool for organizing information.
By specifying links for the relations listed on the tab sheet, you can create a body of information for your document or for a group of associated documents. For example, if you're writing a book, the author, copyright, index, publisher and trademark information will likely be the same for all chapters, even though each chapter may be created as a separate file. You can specify links for these relations, so that each chapter links to the common information. For example, all the topics in our online help system are linked to the same index.
Also, you can use the relations to establish a sequence of documents, thereby organizing your information in the way you think is best suited to your audience. Instead of creating each chapter as a single large document, create a series of smaller documents, perhaps one for each section and subsection. Then, specify the first and last documents in each section with the First Document and End Document relations, and link the subsection documents in the sequence you want using the Next Document and Previous Document relations. Specify a Parent Document that specifies the sequence of all sections in a given chapter, and a Top Document that specifies the sequences of all chapters and other elements in the book.
The reader follows your specified sequence by jumping from one document to another using the Link commands on the Go menuGo_menu_commands.tex or the Links toolbarLinks_toolbar.tex.
You can create links for these relations:
