Navigating a Document

The Navigate Toolbar provides a table of contents for each section.

Click the down arrow at the right of the box, and choose a chapter or section heading from the drop-down list. Click Previous Section or Next Section to move to the previous or next section. (If the Navigate Toolbar does not appear on your screen, you can add it with Toolbars on the View menu.)

The Goto Marker drop down list acts as an index for each document. Click the Goto Marker icon to display the list of markers and select the entry you want. You can click History Back on the Link toolbar to return to your previous position in the document.

There are also hypertext links throughout the document that will take you to related material. To use a hypertext link, click the hypertext linkhypertext link that appears in green on your screen. To try this, click computing in placeDM1-3.tex#Computing in place (2), then return to what you are reading now by clicking the History Back icon. (For documents that are not read-only, press CTRL while clicking a hypertext link.)

Tip    For the best on-line view of this document, the choices Invisibles, Index Fields, and Marker Fields on the View menu should not be selected. These, along with Matrix Lines and Input Boxes, are features that will not normally appear in a printed document. For screen viewing you may prefer Matrix Lines and Input Boxes either on or off.
