Darel W. Hardy

Colorado State University

Darel Hardy received a Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1967 from New Mexico State University. His research specialties are in algebra and semigroups. He has taught mathematics at Colorado State University since 1967. He is currently a Professor of Mathematics and a member of the Center for Science, Mathematics and Technology Education (CSMATE) at Colorado State University. He is a Co-Director of the Colorado Integrated Mathematics Initiative, a CSMATE program designed to support mathematics reform in secondary mathematics in Colorado. His publications include Basic Calculus (Brooks/Cole, 1975), Doing Mathematics with Scientific WorkPlace (Brooks/Cole, 1995), and Doing Calculus with Scientific Notebook (Brooks/Cole, 1997).

Carol L. Walker

New Mexico State University

Carol Walker received a Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1963 from New Mexico State University. Her research specialities are infinite abelian groups and applications of category theory and homological algebra. She was a faculty member at New Mexico State University from 1964 until her retirement in August 1996, teaching mathematics, serving as Head of the Mathematics Department, and more recently, as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Her publications include Mathematics for the Liberal Arts Student with co-authors Fred Richman and Robert Wisner (Brooks/Cole, 1967), Doing Mathematics with Scientific WorkPlace (Brooks/Cole, 1995), and Doing Calculus with Scientific Notebook (Brooks/Cole, 1997).
