  1. Select what you want to delete.

  2. Without pressing any of the mouse buttons, move the mouse pointer within the selection.

  3. Press and hold down the left mouse button.

  4. Drag the mouse pointer to the left of the main window, outside the text region (the scroll bar is a convenient place).

  5. Release the mouse button.
