When you enter a mathematical objectMath_objects.tex, the program inserts a template representing the object and places the insertion pointGlossary.tex#insertion point within the template in a small input boxGlossary.tex#input box. Depending on the object you enter, the template may have more than one input box. You can show or hide the input boxes in a template with the Input Boxes commandDisplay_nonprinting.tex on the View menuView_menu_commands.tex.
Templates contract and expand as necessary to encompass their contents. Until you move the insertion point outside the template, the program considers anything you type to be part of the template.
You can enter a mathematical object by inserting a template and then its contents, or you can apply a template to a selection.
