Saving a Document

Save your document with the Save, Save AsSave_As.tex or Save AllSave_All.tex commands on the File menuFile_menu_commands.tex.

The Save command saves the active document under the name with which it was last saved and which appears at the top of the document window. If the document has not yet been saved, the program displays a dialog box so that you can assign a file name to the document.

The Save As command saves the active document under a new name, in a different folder, or on a different disk. The program displays a dialog box so that you can assign a destination name, folder, or diskette, and so you can protect the document if you want to use it as a shellShell_documents.tex for future documents.

The Save All command saves all open documents to which you have made changes. The documents are saved under the names with which they were last saved and which appear at the top of the document windows. If an open document has not yet been saved, the program displays a dialog box so you can assign a file name to the document.

After you have saved, the program returns you to the active document so that you can continue working on it.

To ensure that your work is saved routinely, you can have the program save automaticallyAuto_save.tex as frequently as you want.
