Linking to the Internet

Scientific Notebook takes you directly to the world of the Internet. With Scientific Notebook, you can open an Internet location that you specify or you can open a location defined in a link in a document. The Internet locations can be Scientific Notebook documents, which have a .tex extension, or HTML documents, which have an .htm or .html extension. The program records all Internet jumps on the History list, along with all jumps to other Scientific Notebook documents

$\blacktriangleright$    To open an Internet location

  1. From the File menu, choose Open Location.

  2. In the Open Location box, enter the URL of the location. You can open a Scientific Notebook document located on a web site. Click the arrow to the right of the box to display a list of recently opened URLs.

  3. Choose Open.

The program activates your web browser if the location is an HTML document. Your Scientific Notebook document remains open. Remember that Scientific Notebook documents with the .tex extension are available on the Internet as read-only documents. You must save a copy of them locally if you want to use any information they may contain. In particular, you must save a copy locally to be able to perform Maple computations with any mathematics it contains.
