Data from Your Calculator

You can import a list, vector, or matrix from your TI, Casio, or HP graphing calculatorCalculators.tex, and then perform computations with the data as you can with any other Scientific Notebook data. This section outlines the general procedure for importing data from your calculator. Refer to the online Help system for instructions for importing data from specific types of calculators. The example that follows uses a data file that was imported from a TI calculator and is provided with Scientific Notebook. It illustrates several ways to use imported data.

$\blacktriangleright$    To import data from your calculator

  1. Use the software provided by the manufacturer (e.g., TI-GRAPH LINK TM for TI-82, TI-83, TI-85, and TI-92 calculators, and Casio Program Link TM for Casio models) to import the calculator data and save the data as a text file.

  2. Start Scientific Notebook and open the document into which you want to import the data.

  3. From the File menu, choose Import Contents.

  4. Specify the text file name and location.

  5. In the Files of Type box, specify the type of calculator.

  6. Choose OK. Scientific Notebook imports the data, which you can now use as a basis for computations.
