Entering Text

You enter text by typing from the keyboard and using the movement keys or keyboard shortcutsKeyboard_shortcuts.tex to move around your document.

The program distinguishes between text and mathematics when information is entered and stored, but assumes everything you enter is text unless you tell it otherwise. When you start the program, the insertion pointGlossary.tex#insertion point is in text and the Math/TextMath_text.tex button on the Math toolbarMath_toolbar.tex appears asitbpF22.4375pt22.4375pt2pttext.wmf .

When the insertion point is in text, the program

⋅ Interprets anything you type as text.

⋅ Displays characters upright.

⋅ Uses the spacebar to insert a single space between words and sentences.
