The home page of the United States Department of Justice was
recently hacked and the contents changed in protest of the current
administration's push to regulate the Internet. The attack occurred in
the early hours of Saturday, August 17, 1996 and was detected by
system administrators within a few hours. They took the page off the
net and supposedly fixed their security holes. Consequently, the DOJ
was off the net until Monday, August 19, 1996.
For historical purposes, we are reproducing the hacked page as well
as the original page. Both are uncensored so shield your children.
Selecting each graphic will take you to the sites in their entirety. No
attempt has been made to modify the content or the message on
either site.
