Updating the contents of networked folders or CD-Rom folders can sometimes be slow. For a slight speedup, Probe can be instructed to use plain icons rather than extracting icons located within the files.

To activate this option, right click the drive for which update is slow, and invoke the file popup menu item Disk Settings for it. In the dialog that is opened, check the option Skip fancy icons.
