Thank you for selecting Mail-Gear from URLabs for your electronic mail needs. Mail-Gear is an ultra high-performance SMTP/POP server for Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 (and Sun Solaris).

LICENSING
Mail-Gear is licensed in three different modes:

Free, unlimited mailboxes for SMTP/POP (MTA) and the web-based administration for list management (aliases) and reporting. All other Mail-Gear features are disabled. This is the default mode after installation.

Free, five mailbox license with all Mail-Gear features enabled, including the web-based client (MUA) and advanced administration features. Visit http://www.urlabs.com/public/download/ to register for your free five user license key.

For purchase of the full product (MTA, MUA, admin), product updates, and toll-free technical support. Mailboxes are bought in groups of 100, and site licenses and education discounts are available.

INSTALLING
You will need the Adobe Acrobat reader to read the installation and administration guide. Impatient Explorers should follow these instructions:

Open the installation guide.

Execute the Mail-Gear Installation program.

After installation, visit the Mail-Gear Administrative Server and set the local mail domain. Login: Administrator Password: <Your NT Admin Password>

Test the SMTP/POP transport by sending a mail message to the Administrator account.

It is strongly recommended that you read the installation guide for important information.

USING
After installation, Mail-Gear will be running as a service on port 25 (SMTP), port 110 (POP), and port 8003 (Mail-Gear web client, requires free or purchased license; and Mail-Gear administration, which requires license for advanced features). Mail-Gear supports any standards-compliant POP client (Navigator, Outlook, Eudora, etc.)
