Stage 3: Specify download URLs

You must specify at least one download site, using an HTTP or FTP server, for your users to download your package from. You can specify up to 10 sites. You must place all the Microsoft components and custom components at each URL you specify below.

Site name
Type the name of your site. You can specify a friendly name that helps to identify the site. Do not use commas in the name.

Site URL
Type the URL for your site. Note that the Ie4site folder will be appended to this URL after you run the IEAK wizard. The file Ie4sites.dat will be added or updated and a subfolder for the language of the package—such as EN for English—will be created within the Ie4site folder.

Site region
Type the region where your site is located, such as the city, state, region of the country, or country.

Custom download sites
The sites you specify will be listed in this column.

If the first site is down—for example, as a result of server problems—Setup will not be able to locate the remaining sites by default. A workaround involves overwriting the first site with the following command:

<path>\ie4setup.exe /c:"ie4wzd.exe /s:""<path>\ie4setup.exe"" /L:""http://my Web server/my Web site/ie4sites.dat"""

<path> is the folder where IE4setup.exe is located

Here's an example:

c:\ie4setup.exe /c:"ie4wzd.exe

/s:""D:\Build\1700\package\download\win95_nt\en\ie4setup.exe""

/L:""http://<NewServerAddress>/<YourDownloadDir>/ie4sites.dat """

Note
You can specify only one download site for a silent installation.
