colors: 251 - black -- - ---- ------------------------------------------- *** Error In Line #2 t.R.I.P Report *** - 5aUl0t Tr@n5l@t0r/Ind production - 09 may, 2k+1 - ----- - -- ------------ -- -------------- -- -------- Yep, you are right it's, as you have already noticed, another report from the party. Why was it so great for me? Errmmm, I don't know how to tell you. It was simply talking part in the very first computer party in my life. I haven't any comparision with the first edition of this event, but I know that it was simply a fucking great experience for me (some people are saying that it hurts the first time ;-)) and I will certainly remember it until the last minute of my pityful life. Before I go to the main part of this text, I would like to thank and say " -HEIL!- " to the organisers for their dedication, nerves of steel and angel like attitude. Keep it up guys, I hope to see you soon in another place, another time... The first part of my journey on the way to Wroclaw was very quick and free of problems, so I even don't remember it. When I arrived I waited for Grey and Sqward. I expected some difficulties with meeting the Mystic Pedophiles Dangerous Duo. Hopefully Grey recognized me without too many problems (I don't even know to this day how he managed to track me down.. He managed it with help of the photo in which I was posing with the burger in my mouth - wanna see it, then read the Chosneck mag #0!). We then only had to wait for Sqward ... And we waited, and waited and waited and.............................................. nothing Sqward-like showed up, so we were forced to go without him. Such a pity (as you will discover it later, not so completely as it seemed). The trip to Dresden was quite nice and it was even more action packed :-))). As I finally landed in the train with Grey, the new attractions struck us. The first one was the very drunk man (a standard polish guy, really jaded drinking veteran) and he started to chase us with something like a blunt spoon hidden within his sleeve. Piece of cake. Next one was the control point on the border. The germans asked us simply " -Vodka? Zigaretten?- ". After a moment of consternation we said " -Noooooo... No, No...-" without any regrets. But when this fucking teuton started searching my bag (he even looked into my sandwiches ;)) I started to think (a very rare event for Saulot) and something popped into my head " -Shit!! Grey has two bottles of vodka in the bottom of his bag. Thats too much. We are doomed. I will certainly go to jail. And what I will do there? They have no television there..... What about my mum? What I will tell her?- " etc..... All I could do at that moment was to sit down and watch as the man dug through the many layers of stuff in one of Grey's enormous bags. But before uncovering the final layer, after which everything would become clear, this asshole (teuton I mean) gave up like a bitch!! Ha!!!!!! We were free!!!!!!! We arrived at Dresden Hauptbahnhof without any perturbations. Grey had some problems with the proper detection of direction (rhyming is fun, I perform it in my spare time :-)). After a while we found the GAG 18 building. Grey phoned back to Poland and he found out that Sqward had missed his train. We still weren't sure if he would arrive. The most important thing was that he was holding some prizes for the EIL competitions. Ah, I haven't mentioned that we arrived one day before the official start of party, so we weren't sure what to do next after reaching the partyplace, but we were invited to enter a club by this weird looking guy, who could even be the vocalist of swedish group called "HIM" (hmm, strange similarity) or a member of something like a sado-macho community. This time showed that I was wrong, so wrong. He was the owner of this club (sorry I don't remember your name) and he had very nice clinging clothes (it was something like a system of early-chef-proximity-detection). Sorry, I am very clinging sensitive ;). We said " -Hi!- " to 505, Joe Cool, Spion and No. After that we were presented with a station that turned out to be " our- polish- station- to- the- end- of- party". With a german beer in hand we started conversation with the pals mentioned earlier. After a while Deez (Mind design) and Asteroid (farting is fun :)) joined us. Grey was shocked that I wasn't talking much at first. I told everyone that I must to "accomodate", but no one understood that word. So everyone who doesn't understood this word has an opportunity to look in dictionary and check it ;). All we had to do now was sit, waiting and see who reached the partyplace. This was a very exhausting activity and resulted in a visit from the well known RezGods. Next we set up the Grey's falcy and we nearly didn't noticed Sqward's mysterious appearing. Gooooooooooooooood...... Everyone was in the place. The rest of the evening was mainly spent on talking, drinking, writing realtime article and watching old demos Next there was sleeping time. Joe Cool presented us with a nice sleeping room, but it was soooooooooo far, soooooo high, but it doesn't matter because I normally live on the 7th floor. I'm glad that I didn't spend that night somewhere in a park or a street. I also have to mention about club localisation. I spendt nearly all five days in a basement full of Atari computers (I haven't seen this amount of them in one place in my whole life!) and I had no reason to go out. There was everything we needed - food (pizza rulez!!!), showers (they showed us some pretty, oriental looking girls, hehehe) the sleeping place (with very comfortable chairs to sleep on) and of course loads of nice people with computers that maybe don't rule the world nowadays, but they are still alive, still kicking and for very long they will be amazing us, I assure you... The next day passed very slowly. More people arrived, I hope that I will not forget anyone (I have good memory, but a short one ;)) -CIH, Felice (maggie team), YES crew, STS, Sector one, McLaser, a band of pizza mad swedes and of course more (big apologies to all people marked as "more"). Even the lost transport of polish guys arrived (special hi goes to bus crew: Draco, Monsoft, Vulgar, Rafal Kawecki, Piotrek Kruzycki ). Particulary all the time 'till saturday evening, when the first series of compos were announced, I was bouncing off the walls of the club, annoying some people with my person, drinking beer, vodka, playing on the net (aaaaiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! free internet access!!!!) and watching video's from other atari partys. Anything to kill time. What I can say about the saturday compos? Well, I will not conceal my disappointment. If anyone tries to say that the overall level of this compo was *good or better* or something like that then I will be in obligation to cut off that person's head and piss down their neck. I will not say that there weren't any good pieces of work (I still remember MSG chip&mod music, he is very noisy guy BTW), but I am 100% sure that no one in the main room was fully satisfied. People please try harder next time. This was like sitting in a cinema, watching a boring movie without the possibility to go out. You should bear in mind that someone has to watch (and listen) to what you have created! In the end I didn't really know from what my first impression originated. Maybe there wasn't a good rehearsal enviroment, maybe I am not a chip & mod specialist, maybe all that i wrote earlier is true, maybe not, maybe I should be happy for one simple fact that someone is still doing stuff on Atari (but this one doesn't satisfy me at all, but you?), judge for yourself... I know, I know.. the gentle art of making enemies :). But let's stop with this moaning (which is not in fashion and not well seen in these grim times).. The positive thing was my very first votesheet in my life (small thing you know, but it makes a man happy :)). There was as usual some technical problems with video projector, which delayed presentations of entries, but I bear in mind that party was organized by only four persons (THE FANTASTIC FOUR(five, six?) 505, No, Spion, Joe Cool) and making everything run smoothly was nearly impossible, so I will forgive them ;). The sunday passed off in a similar way (bouncing off and so on.....). Surviving until the evening was easier with the help from Blade Runner, Bride of Chucky, Carrie 2 and loads of beer. The short trip with Grey and Sygne (Hi!) to the nearest Burger King was quite funny and inspiring. The coolest thing in this trip was the two noisy german girlie-teens spitting on each other with ice and Sygne acting as a werewolf chasing them into the toilet (hmmm, they were frightened or what? Finally they ran off with a loud cry, hehehe). But this didn't prepare us for the next event at partyplace - THE WHIP-PONG TOURNAMENT. Such a pity that we couldn't manage to return in time to sign on the long list and take part in it :-/. This compo just knocked me out. The rules were simple -you have your channel (Left or Right) and you are making some noizz to the microphone. Techniques of various vocalists (If I can use this term) were very different and quite original. Finally after a series of confrontations, TAM from T.O.Y.S was declared the winner and he earned for himself three beers. The tension was growing in every minute. The long awaited demo and wild compos were delayed by video recorder malfunction and some other minor things. But finally we were presented with entries. Some nice intros, XL/XE demo entries (which were awful and shouldn't be called demos). And then there was the ST demo compo with the only one entry Sector One and Dune demo, but quality of it was astonishing. Great design, presentation, chip-tune and effects really made it stand out from the crowd. It was a pleasure to watch it, really worthwhile. These sort of productions are showing what ST is capable of. In the wild compo there was presented a short film from Havoc & Friends. I liked it very much. Action packed, good bashing, blood, very fast cars, guns and women(?). All factors required by a good film. But ehm, I don't remember who has won in the end ;). Another entry in this competition was Ascii Nation by Maggie editor CIH As I noticed it was an ascii comic (someone should read it loudly ;)). The rest of entries I don't remember, sorry. And then the most important part appeared FALCON DEMO COMPETITION. It was certainly the revival of a falcon demo scene from a long recession. At last something is going on :). Thanks to DHS, PARANOIA, T.O.Y.S, REMO, SPICE BOYS and ESCAPE for their quality work. Well, as always I could stick to some things, but I won't do that. Good work pals!!! When the smoke after the compos cleared up, it was monday morning. We decided with Grey and Sqward to not fall asleep, because we had a train back home at eleven o'clock, so going to bed was equal with staying forever in Germany (which one isn't as bad). We have somehow survived awake to the official end of the party with announcment of competition results and various prizes give away. After that the people started to disappear and partyplace deserted slowly with each passing moment. After some time we had to leave (me, Grey and Sqward). It was sad to leave GAG18, truly. Everything looked like a landscape after a battle, so I felt very guilty that I couldn't help a little with tidying up the club. I will go to hell for that :]. In the end we reached the trainstation and said good bye to Germany. And then there was only the brutal comeback to harsh reality... -- - -- -- -- ----- ----------------------------------------------------------- CHOSNECK magazine contact us: we're listenin' 2 da voice of da scene! atarimsb@wp.pl ------------------------------------------------------------- --- -- -- --- ---
