Jack's wife did the› barbequing and a good time was had by› all. Thank you JACK AND MARY› GEDALIUS, our gracious host &› hostess.›› JACK announced the upcoming meeting› dates as follows: 9/18, 10/30,› 11/13, 12/18, 1/8, 2/12, 3/18, 4/15,› 5/13, 6/17. The meetings officially› begin at 1PM and may end as late as› 5PM. They will be held, as usual, at› the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library in› Nassau County, Long Island.›› TREASURER's REPORT:›› RON FETZER announced that we are in› the black.›› ALAN SHARKIS reported on› correspondence from JOE HICSWA. The› first letter JOE wrote was about the› Newsletter going from 6 isues a year› to 4 issues a year as he read in the› last Newsletter. He wants to know if› there will be an accompanying› reduction in dues. The annual dues› will be $20 starting in the year 2000› instead of $24 as it was in the› previous years.›› JOE HICSWA's second letter informed› that he was frustrated by the game,› Atomit on the back of the Newsletter› disk. He found a way to make the› game easier to play.JOE sent two› files to ALAN which are the result of› his research.›› ALAN mentioned some email he has› received from a member regarding a› problem with the mailing of the› Newsletters. The problem was solved› by Ron Fetzer.›› A discussion followed on the future› of the Atari club and its members.›› DEMONSTRATIONS:›› ALAN SHARKIS demoed a menu-driven,› multi-DOS disk. DOSs and utilities› on the disk were as follows: ›› Side 1› A. Atari DOS 2.0S› B. Atari DOS 931 (makes 931› sectors; based on 2.0 S)› C. Atari DOS 2.5 in German› D. Atari DOS 2.5 in English› E. Antic DOS› F. OSA DOS 1.2› G. OSA DOS 2.0› H. OSA DOS 2.3 (these are› all by OSS)› I. ART DOS Rainbow› J. Atari DOS 3.0› K. Double Set (a utility to› set density)› L. File copy (a utility› that can copy multiple› files)› M. Initialize Disk› N. Tape copy› O. Happy Computer 2+D›› ALAN brought some of them up. Then› he showed Side 2, which contained› several commercial and freeware DOSs› that are based on AtariDOS. The› SpartaDos family was not represented.› This DOS disk came from EHRHARD› PUETZ, or "Atreju," who wrote this› DOS disk and has been in the field› for many long years making› significant hardware and software› contributions along the way.(Library› #743).›› Next ALAN SHARKIS demoed Artworx› which consists of 2 disks. It's a› companion program to Artworks, a PC› program. This package allows the› user to lay out, print, and transfer› printed-circuit designs to the PC› version. The author states that the› printer program, however, is› incomplete. The editor, printer and› transfer programs and the Readme are› on side 1 of the first disk, and all› documentation is on side 2 of the› first disk. The second disk is› devoted to the assembly source code› for all three programs which was also› released as freeware. The cards can› be up to four layers. The package› comes from Holland, with› documentation written in English› (Library # 744 and 745).›› JACK GEDALIUS demoed Atari› Planetarium which is one of the› better programs that Atari made. JACK› read some interesting information the› program brought up about the Earth› and the moon. Then he showed the› eclipse and how it happens. Then› there followed a discussion of how› our galaxy is, the infinite nature of› the uiverse and the big bang theory.› He showed the constellations and read› some interesting information about› them. RON FETZER commented that the› members were watching JACK perform› miracles.›› Then the members went on the internet› with Ice-T and brought up www.atari-› history.com. This was done to check› the phone line, which we discovered› wasn't working at the last meeting,› and which is certainly working now!›› There were no doorprizes for today's› meeting.
