› o=o=o=o=o=›› MINUTES OF OHAUG MEETING JULY 18,1998›› JACK GEDALIUS opened the meeting by› calling on ALAN SHARKIS for a report.› Alan described an Internet mailing› list. It works like this: you have an› e-mail address on the internet and› you subscribe to a mailing list. You› then get everything everyone sends in› to that mailing list. If you send a› message everyone who's on this list› also gets it. It's almost like a› private newsgroup, with less› advertising and spam. There is an› existing list ALAN subscribes to that› deals with Atari 8-bits and provides› very useful information. ALAN has› instructions on how to subscribe (or› unsubscribe if you don't want so many› messages) and passed out copies of› them to the members.›› Also, in Canada, is LES WAGAR, who› was a member of NOSAUG before it› folded. At one time, Les had written› a bunch of disk utilities which were› published on an A.I.M. disk. Les› stated to Alan that he needs a place› like Ol'Hackers for this disk to› reside, so he sent it to Alan who› suggested he might want to join our› club and sent him a flyer from the› ones we gave JOHN HARDIE. Alan will› submit this disk to our Library. A› discussion then followed on this› matter followed by questions about› subscribing to the e-mail list.›› TREASURY REPORT:›› RON FETZER reported that we're in the› black.›› Discussion then followed about future› meeting dates at the library. Most› members of our group will not be able› to attend the Suffolk meeting on› August 1, 1998 but will plan to have› our meeting August 15th. A brief› discussion then followed about the› World of Atari Show in August.›› DEMONSTRATIONS:›› RON FETZER demoed a German disk from› ABBUC magazine #53 2nd quarter 1998› on how to use the XEP80 with a TV› (XED80), and how to use regular› density instead of enhanced density,› and how to play Ultimate Reality,› also how to make an Atari interface› for the IBM keyboard (the old Atari› keyboard stays on it too.) (Library› #726).›› ALAN SHARKIS demoed a disk called› Tom's Pack (Library #727). The next› disk is called Cassette to Disk wich› ALAN demoed (Library #728) and then› the XF2 Utilities disk (Library› #729). ALAN then demoed an HTML› decoder for the Atari 8-bit (Library› #730). Also demoed a Dynademo disk› (Library #731). And finally a disk› from Les Wagar, a former member of› NOSAUG which he calls "Disk› Utilities" (Library #732).›› ALAN then led a discussion on what is› the function of a user group on a› national basis in response to a› message that he read on FidoNet.›› The door prizes were won by Harry› Tuhill, Ron Fetzer, and Pat Mulvey.›› The next meeting will be on August› 15, 1998 at the Library as usual.›› o=o=o=o=o=›››
