› o=o=o=o=o=›› PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE› by Jack Gedalius›› January--February›› At the January meeting AL SHARKIS› demoed the new Atari CD-ROM disk that› he received from The SCHREURS› BROTHERS in Holland. It is the Pool› Disk II which had many of the Bellcom› programs, many of the Atari› schematics and advertisements.›› This week in Poland there is an Atari› fest. I wonder how many of our loyal› members will attend! The country is› the farthest ahead in Atari› advancement. It boasts of over 4700› members.›› We had our annual Valentine's Day› dinner at Lambrou's restaurant in› Island Park, New York. It was a› joyous occasion for all. Members› and their wives attended, totaling› eighteen. The dinner was delicious.› Door prizes were awarded. STAN› SCHENFELD and his wife, JUDY, won two› free meals. MRS. MARIA PIGNATO, wife› of our late president, ALEX, again› won a box of Valentine's Day candy. › We were honored by the presence of› their two daughters, DIANNE and› GAYLE.›› At the February meeting we went into› the procedure of teaching our› secretary, BARBARA KELLER, how to› upload from the Atari to the PC› located at the home of Al Sharkis.› This is so that she can send the› transcription of the minutes of each› meeting to him so that he may be able› to put it on our newsletter bi-› monthly disk that much faster. To› accomplish this we used the SX212› modem which is a 1200 baud unit. We› used the program SX Express for this› upload. Later, we tried contacting› NassauNet (a free, though limited› internet service for Nassau County› residents) using ICE-T which all› proved to be successful.›› TOM ANDREWS sent us some surplus› equipment and software from his home› and from that of VERNON SMITH. Tom› and Vernon were both active members› of ACE of Syracuse before it folded.› ANN RAWLINSON, our former member from› Cold Spring Harbor, brought in a big› setup of Atari equipment for the club› to sell. We had a very informative› meeting. ››› BY FOR NOW,› JACK GEDALIUS›› o=o=o=o=o=›››
