› o=o=o=o=o=›› Editor's Message› by Alan Sharkis› Editor, OHAUG Newsletter›› It's gratifiying indeed to put out a› call for articles on using the 8-bit› on the Internet through a newsgroup› and getting responses. I've included› the gist of a message I got in› response to that call. I was also› referred to an article at UMICH and I› synopsized that one for you, too. › Find both in an article I included on› Side 1 called, "Internet News."›› I also jumped the gun on the promised› article from TOM ANDREWS about using› the 8-bit with Usenet Newsgroups. › There was no indication that the› expected issue of Atari Classics,› which was to carry that article, was› going to be released soon, so I› figured we weren't doing any good by› withholding it from our membership› and it appears on Side 2 of this› issue.›› The program that runs from spacebar› on side 1 is FORTUNE.BAS, which comes› from our copy of the Pool Disk. It› was originally from the December 1986› disk from A.N.A.L.O.G. magazine. › Also on side 1, look for› CHALENGE.BAS. This game requires two› joysticks and two players. It› involves finding letters and guessing› a word. It IS challenging, indeed!›› The program that runs from the› spacebar on side 2 is IRA.BAS, which› also comes from our copy of Pool› Disk. It's a program that calculates› what a conventional IRA will do for› you when you retire. It would be› interesting to see somebody convert› this program so that it will also do› ROSS IRAs. I'm not familiar with the› details of this new IRA, so you're on› your own here. If you do succeed,› please send a copy of your program to› us. You will also find VIEW3D.COM› and HOUSE.V3D on side 2. VIEW3D.COM› is a program for drawing orthagonal› and perspective views of objects, and› HOUSE.V3D is a sample drawing for the› program. You may copy these two› programs out onto a formatted disk› with DOS files on it and rename› VIEW3d.COM to AUTORUN.SYS, if you› like.›› I hope you enjoy this issue. Please› send me your comments, questions, e-› mail addresses, etc., and I will try› to include them in the next issue.››
