****› PRESIDENTS MESSAGE› by ALEX PIGNATO›› For the FIRST time in 11 years, a› monthly OL' HACKERS meeting was› cancelled due to a conflict with a BIG› party given by our V.P. JACK GEDALIUS,› which was attended by many OL'› HACKERS. Best wishes to JOEL GEDALIUS› and the GEDALIUS family. We felt it› didn't pay to have a meeting with very› few attendees. A good time was had by› all who went to the party. ›› The weather all over the USA has› been terrible. One storm after another› causing untold millions in money› damages and more importantly, untold› misery, and many deaths. Lets hope we› never see the likes of 1995 again.› Snow, rain causing floods, tornadoes› etc. an amazing display of NATURES› power!›› I know there are many non-game› players out there, but I also know› there are many game players, so having› found what I think are excellent› games, they are in this months disk,› along with a number of utility type› programs. This should satisfy all.› While I'm at it, I should mention,› that I look for all kinds of programs,› some very old, some brand new, and› taken from various sources, including› old magazines like COMPUTE, ANTIC, and› ANALOG. I love to receive new programs› conceived and programmed by our› members, so send in your› masterpieces.›› In this issue of OHAUGS newsletter,› please check out "POKER.OBJ", a› fantasticly well done game with great› graphics, and it keeps track of your› money (gain?), (loss) from the last› time you played. Then there is› "SMOKEY.BAS", (The challenge, is to› get across America in less than 55› hours, and its not easy, I can tell› you, having tried a couple of times,› without success) another great game› you call by hitting the SPACE BAR on› side 2.›› I came across GDEVICE. If you are› an old timeer, you will surely› remember it from ANALOG. I suggest you› get the copy (date will be found when› you list the program) and read the› three pages of documentation. But,› even without those docs, I have put in› enough info to allow you to use the› program, by the two other GDEVICE› programs on this disk. It does wonders› for your printing efforts. In one of› the future issues of OHAUG's› newsletter, I hope to add a couple› more GDEVICE programs for you, if I› can find them.›› OL' HACKERS, always one of the 8› BIT clubs in the forefront of new 8› BIT stuff, is now the owner of a CD› ROM disk with LOADS of 8 BIT stuff in› it. AL SHARKIS has kindly agreed to do› the necessary conversion from the CD› ROM to 8 BIT floppies which will be› put into our disk library. I am told› that the CD ROM disk holds the› equivelant of about 1150 double sided› floppies. I think we will have enough› demo'es for a short while (grin). AL› will use his font of knowledge of his› MSDOS, and 8 BIT micros, in order to› do the conversion. Thanks AL, we know› that this will take a lot of work on› your part, and we look forward to the› results.›› Some nice member sent RON FETZER a› personalized S.A.M. talking program› which complimented OHAUG for the Bi-› monthly newsletter, but RON misplaced› (another word for lost) the senders› name. We thank you, but, would the› sender please let me know who you are?›› Thats it for now, CULTR...BYE.› end›
