Curriculum

Students at the Hagashi Dojo are required to master a variety of disciplines that are both mentally and physically challenging. Course work includes:

  • Understanding Bushido: The moral code by which a samurai lives and dies.
  • Swordsmanship: Mastery of the long and short swords.
  • Archery: Training to develop military prowess.
  • Jujutsu: Proficiency in self-defense and personal combat. Includes instruction in twisting opponents’ arms, choking, and kicking.
  • Horsemanship: Achieving control with grace.
  • Seppuku: Ritual suicide as the preferred alternative to dishonor.
