FREQUENTLY-ASKED-QUESTIONS

IS THIS A HARDWARE OR A SOFTWARE PROBLEM?
Both.

WHY CAN'T MY I.T. DEPARTMENT SORT IT OUT?
Your I.T. Department has its own agenda. Your I.T. Department may be hostile to outside expertise. Your I.T. Department may even be partly responsible for your current Millennium problems. On the other hand, your I.T. Department may have the resources to solve most of your Millennnium problems, and you only need outside assistance in checking and confirming their success. Either way, your I.T. Department isn't legally responsible, but you may well be.

WON'T MY INSURANCE PAY FOR ANY LOSSES?
If the worst happens, it will take vital weeks and months to sort out the mess. It will take even longer to sort out the litigation and any insurance claims. The question to be asked is, can your organisation survive the delay?.

WHY CAN'T MY I.T. SUPPLIERS SORT IT OUT?
It is highly unlikely that your I.T. suppliers will contribute to the cost of your Millennium compliance. You cannot afford to delay action while arguing over who is going to pay for it.

WHAT'S THE HURRY? IT'S ONLY 1998
The longer you delay, the greater the risk, the higher the cost. Commercial, administrative and industrial failures have already happened as a direct result of the Millennium problem. You need to be Millennium compliant by the end of this year, allowing at least one year for forward-operations. That means you must tackle the problem now.

EVEN IF MY SYSTEM IS OK, CAN I BE HURT IF ONE OF MY SUPPLIERS ISN'T MILLENNIUM COMPLIANT?
Yes. It is vital to plan for third-party failure as well as your own contingencies.
