OFFICETALK 1.51 README.TXT ************************** During the testing of OfficeTalk 1.51, Sareen Software Plc discovered a bug in Microsoft's Windows 95 MAPI interface. This is a bug that Microsoft has confirmed. The bug causes a problem that does not occur consistently and MAY only affect users who are running WINDOWS 95 AND ENABLE THE OFFICETALK MAPI INTERFACE. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT If you are running WINDOWS 3.1 or 3.11 you will not encounter this problem If you run WINDOWS 95 and DO NOT ENABLE THE MAPI INTERFACE you will not encounter this problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you enable OfficeTalk’s MAPI interface to link to Microsoft Mail, Exchange or the Workgroup Internet Gateway you may find that OfficeTalk becomes the active application and pops up over the top of other applications. If this is happening consistently there are several solutions. ADJUST MAIL CHECKING TIME ------------------------- The problem may occur when OfficeTalk checks for new mail. By default OfficeTalk checks for new mail every 300 seconds. To change the frequency that OfficeTalk checks for new mail follow the instructions below 1. Select the Options\General Preferences menu from any Mode 2. The Change Mail Every X Seconds will be set to 300 seconds 3. You can increase the check time in 30 second blocks up to a maximum of 9999 seconds ( 6 hours) 4. Press OK and log out 5. Next time you login to OfficeTalk, the mail will check at the new value specified in Step 3 If this does not prove to be a suitable solution, you may need to consider the following. ALTERNATIVE SETUP PROGRAM ------------------------- Within the OTSCR directory on the CD ROM, is a file called OTSCR.EXE. This is a self extracting file which contains an alternative set of installation disks. This version of OfficeTalk will stop OfficeTalk from becoming the active application. However with certain applications you may find that the screen does not refresh properly.
