Duplicating Objects

To duplicate an object, you select it, copy it to the Clipboard, and then paste it onto the same or a different page as many times as you want. When a copy of the object is placed on the Clipboard the original object remains unchanged.

Duplicating objects is particularly helpful when you want to create a group of objects that share one or more common characteristics. For example, perhaps they all need to be exactly the same size or have one or more properties set identically.

The first step in duplicating an object is to copy it to the Clipboard.

To copy an object:

1. Select the object you want to copy.

2. Click on the Copy button or press Ctrl + C.

The selected object is copied and stored in the Clipboard. The second step in duplicating an object is to paste it from the Clipboard onto a page.

To paste an object:

1. Make sure the correct page is showing.

If you want to paste the object onto the same page, you don't have to do anything. If you want to paste it onto another page, go to another page. (For more information see Chapter 3.)

2. Click on the Paste button or press Ctrl + V.

A copy of the object that is stored on the Clipboard is pasted on top of the original object. This object is also selected. Optionally, you can drag the object to its new position.

Hint: You can also make a copy of an object by pressing and holding the Ctrl key and dragging a copy of the object to a new position.
