Resizing Objects

After you draw an object you usually have the ability to resize it. Often, it's practical to create an object, set some of its properties, and then resize it as necessary. For example, you might draw a Text object, enter text in it, and then resize it to fit the text.

The following subsections describe the different ways to resize objects. Remember that some objects, such as the Audio object, are never visible at runtime and cannot be resized.

Resizing with the Mouse

One way to resize an object is to select it and stretch it in one or more directions.

To resize an object:

1. Select the object.

2. Position the cursor over one of the eight sizer blocks.

3. Press and hold the left mouse button and drag the sizer block to a new position.

As you drag the sizer block, the object is extended in the direction in which you drag.

4. When the object reaches the desired size release the mouse button.

Note: By default, when you resize an object it conforms to the grid. For information on setting grid options, such as making it invisible or disabling it, see "Drawing Objects."

Making Objects the Same Height and/or Width

Use the Make Same buttons in the Page Layout toolbar to make selected objects the same height and/or width. Note that each of the buttons has an equivalent command in the Layout menu. (For a description of the commands, see Chapter 5.)

The Make Same buttons are available when two or more objects are selected. When you select a group of objects, by default, the Make Same command you choose works according to the object you last selected. To make the command work according to a different object, hold down the Shift key and click on the desired object twice.
