Positioning Objects

Jamba comes with several features to help you make sure that your objects are positioned precisely as needed. For example, you may want two graphics centered on the page or four buttons aligned along the right side of the page. Jamba comes with the following features to help you manipulate objects once you draw them.

Dragging Objects

Once you have selected one object or a group of objects, you can drag it to a new position on the page. This is useful for times when you did not draw an object in precisely the position you want.

To drag objects:

1. Select the object or the group of objects.

The borders of any selected objects are surrounded by eight sizer blocks, one at each corner and one in the center of each side.

2. Position the cursor over the selected object or anywhere over one of the selected objects.

3. Press and hold the left mouse button and drag the object(s) to the new location.

4. Release the left mouse button to re-draw the object(s) at the new location.

By default, when you move objects they conform to the grid in the Layout area. This lets you align objects vertically and horizontally. For information on setting grid options, such as making it invisible or disabling it, see "Drawing Objects."

Aligning Objects

Use the Alignment buttons in the Page Layout toolbar to align selected objects in various ways. Note that each of the buttons has an equivalent command in the Layout menu. (For a description of the commands, see Chapter 5.)

The Alignment buttons are available when a group of objects is selected. When you select a group of objects, by default, the alignment button you choose aligns according to the object you last selected. (Hint: This object has a dashed outline.) To align according to a different object, hold down the Shift key and click on the desired object twice

To align a group of objects:

1. Select the group of objects you want to align.

2. Click on the appropriate button in the toolbar or select an equivalent command from the Layout menu.
