avoiding work

Share your tips on avoiding work!

Be sure to read Miss Walker's Guide to Employee Internet Etiquette for more on workplace goofing off.

We are compiling work avoidance stories & strategies for the DigiDay calendar "How to Avoid Work @ Work and Other Office Tales". Please send us your hints for looking busy, tips for creative work avoidance, workplace anecdotes, stories of moronic inDUHviduals (either bosses or coworkers), games & craft projects that may be created from simple office supplies, or anything else that makes the work day FUN (well, tolerable at least)! We'd also like to hear Interview From Hell stories, chronicles of workplace romances (either yours or a coworker's), wild office party anecdotes, goofing off while on travel tales, or whatever you do to stay sane from 9-5.

Selected submissions will appear in the calendar with full credit given. Let's see how creative you can be! Be sure to visit DigiDay for your daily dose of fun and timely tips.

Here are some examples:

Category: Looking Busy
Description: Scatter random documents (thick ones) around your work area and flip pages in them occasionally. The more you stare at paper, the better.

Category: Games & Craft Projects
Description: Make yourself a workplace BINGO card, with squares such as "somebody comments about weather", "stupid question asked on phone", "coworker wearing unfashionable clothing" etc., cross one off every time it happens, & see how long it takes you to fill in a row.
