DOOM WADS & ADD-ONS We have a special Doom WAD guest host this month. His name is Jacob "Chainsaw" Hendrix. Because, as Jacob puts it he's "KraYZee" for Doom, we're bringing you 3 of his personal deathmatch WADS and something extra special -- Doom Gore! Doom GORE is an add-on that will create even more gory death sequences, for those really bloodthirsty Doomer's -- and who among us isn't? All of these files can be found in the \DOOM directory on our CD. As always, just copy the files into your DOOM or DOOM2 directory (or wherever it is you placed the game). Here are the names of each of Jacob's WADs: DMGORESE.ZIP -- Doom Gore Add-on CSTUBE.ZIP -- Deathmatch WAD CSEVILDM.ZIP -- Deathmatch WAD CSE2DM.ZIP -- Deathmatch WAD The buttons below will present the text files for each of these WADs. If you don't have a copy of PKUNZIP to unzip these files, they also appear unzipped in subdirectories off of the \DOOM directory on The CD. If you're wondering what to do with a Doom WAD once you copy it into your DOOM or DOOM2 directory, here are a few tips. There's usually a TXT file for you to read, and some even include a batch file for loading the WAD. If you're left clueless, the standard procedure is to type: DOOMX -FILE WADNAME.WAD * where DOOMX = your Doom executable command, either DOOM or DOOM2 * where -FILE = would appear just as it is * where WADNAME.WAD = is the name of the WAD file you wish to load i.e. If the game is Doom 2 and the WAD name is SPIDERS4.WAD, you'd type: DOOM2 -FILE SPIDERS4.WAD. NOTE: The Doom Gore add-on loads a little different than most WADS. Instructions are in the TXT file, but here's a quick run down: 1. To install the new gory graphics, type DMGSE at the DOS prompt. A menu will appear and you should be able to figure it out. 2. To run the graphics, type: DOOM -file DMG25T.WAD DMG25SE.WAD for DOOM 1 or DOOM2 -file DM2G05T.WAD DM2G05SE.WAD for DOOM 2. 3. If you want to use another PWAD with these, put it's name AFTER these WAD names when you type it, otherwise, it may not show up when you are playing. This doesn't always work, they're just general guidelines. As with all WADS, updates, add-ons or patches make sure your original files are backed up. PC Gamer will not accept any responsibility for problems caused by these files.
