Region

Edit menu > Region

Status bar > Window Selection or Crossing Selection

When dragging the mouse to select one or more objects, the Region options let you switch between selecting objects within, or crossed by, a rectangular window. Choose the appropriate Region sub-menu item, or use the Window/Crossing button toggle on the status bar.
