Outlook Tasks Panel
The Outlook Tasks Panel allows you to keep track of the things that you need to
do. With this panel you can create, view, edit, delete tasks, and keep track of
what tasks you have completed.
Follow these instructions to access the Options of the Tasks Panel:
- Right mouse
click on the Tasks Panel and Select Panel Properties.
General Tab
- Enabling
“Show done tasks too” will show both uncompleted and completed tasks.
- Enabling
“Show only active tasks” will hide all inactive tasks from view.
- Enabling
“Show only tasks due in the next XX days” will hide all tasks after XX
days from view.
You
can set the number of days by scrolling up and down through the numbers just
before “days.”
- Set the
Priority Filter by selecting one (1) of the following selections:
- “Show all”
which will show all tasks regardless of priority.
- “Skip low
priority” which will show tasks that have priority settings of Normal or High.
- “Show only
high priority” which will only show high priority tasks.
- Set the
Category Filter by selecting one (1) of the following selections:
Note:
Only Categories that have been assigned to Tasks will Appear in the Window.
- “Show all”
which will show all tasks regardless of category.
- “Skip
selected” which will show all tasks NOT in the categories selected in
the window.
- “Show only
selected” which will show only the tasks in the categories selected in
the window.
- You may sort
the tasks by their due dates or by subject by selecting the respective
option from the “Sort by:” drop down list.
Location Tab
Follow
these instructions to specify a particular Tasks folder for Desktop Sidebar to
access.
- Clicking on
the “…” button will open a browser window.
- Find and
select the folder you wish to use and click OK.
Right mouse clicking on a
Task will show a list of commands:
- Open will
open the Outlook Task Dialog for you to View and/or Edit the Selected
Task.
- New will
create a New Task using the Outlook Task Dialog.
- Mark Complete
will mark the selected task as Completed.
- Delete will
Delete the selected Task.
All Additions, Edits, and/or Deletions will be reflected in Outlook.
The following are ways to use
the Tasks Panel without using the menus:
- Hovering over
a Task will open a Details window that shows the contents of the Task.
- Clicking on a
Task will open the Outlook Task Dialog for you to View and/or Edit the
Clicked Task.
Note: Desktop Sidebar requires full version of Outlook which is part of Microsoft Office System and cannot use Outlook Express which is a part of Microsoft Windows.
