Performance Panel
The Performance Panel allows you to monitor your systems performance in real
time simply by looking at your Desktop Sidebar. You can monitor the CPU, Hard
Disk, Memory, Swap File, and Network Activity as well as the Most Active
Program, Network Activity, and Disk Usage.
Follow these steps to setup your Performance Panel:
- Right mouse
click on the Performance Panel and select Panel Properties.
- To add a
monitor to the Panel click on the Add button and select the monitor you
want to add.
- The CPU
monitor shows a graph of the Percent of CPU Usage.
- The Disk
Activity monitor shows a graph of the Percent of Disk Activity.
- The Memory
Usage monitor shows a graph of the Percent of Memory Usage.
- The Swap
File monitor shows a graph of the Percent of Swap File (Virtual Memory)
Usage.
- The Most
Active Applications shows which applications are have the most CPU and
Disk Usage.
- The Network
Activity Graph shows a graph of the Percent of Network Activity.
There are extra properties for this panel:
- Select
which Network Device to monitor from the Interface drop down list.
- Choose to
display a graph of the amount sent, received, or the total of both.
- If you want
to display the graph in a scale check the Scale box and enter the Max
Transfer Speed.
- The Network
Activity Monitor will display the current network transfer speed
There are extra properties for this panel:
- Choose the
Network Device you want to monitor from the Interface drop down list.
- Choose to
display the speed of traffic that is sent, received, or the total of
both.
- The Disk
Usage shows the amount of space currently being used on the given drive
There are extra properties for this panel:
- Select the
drive that you want to monitor from the Drive drop down list.
- To edit the
extra properties of the Network Activity Graph, Network Activity Monitor,
or Disk Usage Monitor click on the monitor that you want to edit (this should
highlight the monitor) and click the Edit button.
- To change the
order of the monitors in the Panel Click and Drag them within the Panel
Properties window.
