Where:

Specifies the decimal number of seconds (between -1 and 100000) to wait before continuing.

The value -1 causes the computer to wait indefinitely for a keystroke. This value makes Timeout function the same as the pause command.

Running timeout without any parameter displays a brief description of usage.
