Runext.exe: Run Extension

This shell extension adds a Run command to the context menu for files that are right-clicked in Windows Explorer. Selecting Run from the menu opens the Run dialog box with the file's path name set in the Open field. The cursor is set immediately after the file name to allow the quick entry of parameters for that application.

Installing Run Extension

This tool is not installed by the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Resource Kit automated setup program. To install it, use the following procedure.

To install Run Extension

1. Insert the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Resource Kit companion CD in your CD-ROM drive.
2. Click Explore the CD.
3. In the <cdroot>\Apps\Runext directory, right-click Runext.inf.
4. In the context menu that appears, click Install.

The files required for Run Extension are located in the <cdroot>\Apps\Runext directory of your Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Resource Kit companion CD.
