Regrest.exe: Registry Restoration

Registry Restoration (RegRest) restores registry hive files from backups created by RegBack.

The registry is organized as a series of hive files, stored (with associated logs) in binary form on your computer's hard disk. You can manually back up and restore the registry manually, or in batch files, using the RegBack and RegRest tools.

You must be logged on as a member of a group that has "Backup Files and Folders" privileges to use RegRest.

RegRest performs a ReplaceKey operation, which swaps backup files for the default files that the Emergency Repair or Windows 2000 Setup programs installed, and saves the default files under other file names.
Restart the computer after running the RegRest program to see the restored registry.
