Windows 2000 System Performance Counters

The following counters are standard in the Windows 2000 operating system, are installed by Setup by default. Note that some may only be visible if you install or start the associated service.

In addition, some counters are considered "costly," meaning that it takes a long time to collect data from them. These counters do not appear in System Monitor and can only be viewed using Showperf.exe or other performance-related tools in the Windows 2000 Resource Kit. The following are examples of costly counters:
