Windows 2000 System Performance Counters

The following counters are standard in the Windows 2000 operating system, are installed by Setup by default. Note that some may only be visible if you install or start the associated service.

ACS/RSVP Service. Default counter: Interfaces.
Browser. Default counter: Announcements Server/sec.
Cache. Default counter: Data Map Hits %.
Distributed Transaction Coordinator. Default counter: Active Transactions.
HTTP Indexing Service. Default counter: % Cache hits.
IAS Accounting Clients. Default counter: Malformed Packets.
IAS Accounting Server. Default counter: Server Up Time.
IAS Authentication Clients. Default counter: Malformed Packets.
IAS Authentication Server. Default counter: Server Up Time.
ICMP . Default counter: Messages/sec.
Indexing Service. Default counter: Word lists.
Indexing Service Filter. Default counter: Total indexing speed (MB/hr).
IP. Default counter: Datagrams/sec.
Job Object. Default counter: Current % Processor Time.
Job Object Details. Default counter: % Processor Time.
LogicalDisk. Default counter: % Disk Time.
Memory. Default counter: Pages/sec.
NBT Connection. Default counter: Bytes Total/sec.
Network Interface. Default counter: Bytes Total/sec.
Objects. Default counter: Processes.
Paging File. Default counter: % Usage.
PhysicalDisk. Default counter: % Disk Time.
Print Queue. Default counter: Jobs.
Process. Default counter: % Processor Time.
Processor. Default counter: % Processor Time.
Redirector. Default counter: Bytes Total/sec.
Server. Default counter: Bytes Total/sec.
Server Work Queues. Queue Length.
System. Default counter: File Data Operations/sec.
TCP. Default counter: Segments\sec.
Telephony. Default counter: Lines.
Thread. Default counter: % Processor Time.
UDP. Default counter: Datagrams/sec.

In addition, some counters are considered "costly," meaning that it takes a long time to collect data from them. These counters do not appear in System Monitor and can only be viewed using Showperf.exe or other performance-related tools in the Windows 2000 Resource Kit.
